❄️ When did you last put on your own ice skates?⛸️

This week marks school and work back in full swing around Stockholm; but, yesterday at noon, I passed a lively scene on the nearby lake yesterday at noon* – counting about 31 people enjoying ice skating.

Among them were adults, children, groups, and individuals. (Noteworthy to many outside Sweden: two single parents skillfully ice skating while pushing their baby buggies.) The lake was a medley of “long skates,” figure skates, hockey skates, and even hockey sticks and it summed up so much of the lovely spirit I’ve come to love here: a connection and ease to nature.

Scandinavian living is one of my words for 2024. Ask away, if you have anything you’re curious about in this little corner of the world this year (it might become art and I’m also happy to answer questions) and I’ll also ask you:❄️ ⛸️ when did you last put on your own ice skates?⛸️❄️

Happy New Year! I hope 2024 wraps around you like a favorite, warm, and snuggly sweater. I am anticipating our soon reunion, but “2023’s mixtape” remained consistent from start to finish, playing a range of sad to dance-worthy songs — and now, pneumonia.

After Christmas in the US with my family and attending my niece’s memorable wedding, I’m back home and developed pneumonia and currently recovering. My imagination is bursting with plans for 2024. Once back on my feet, I can’t wait to join you here with many exciting things in store for the year. See you soon!
